From January 2018, Italy is represented within Euro-CASE as an observer by a Consortium composed of:
The aim of the consortium was to create an Italian Academy of Technologies.
With the support of Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, the Italian Academy of Engineering (ITATEC) was established in September 2022. In January 2023, the first steering council has been elected, composed by Speranza Falciano (Gran Sasso Science Institute) as President, Massimo Morbidelli (Politecnico Milano) and Francesca Zarri (ENI) as Vicepresidents, Maria Chiara Carrozza (CNR President), Franco Ongaro (Leonardo) and Nobel laureate Giorgio Parisi, followed by the appointment of Matteo Pardo (CNR) as Secretary General.
In July 2024, 39 new members were elected, 6 of whom are junior members (<=40 years old), joining the 51 founding members.
The stakeholders’ representation body (“Collegio dei Consiglieri”) has been set up with 15 tech companies and the Italian Centre for Supercomputing (CINECA).
The Academy is acting to receive official recognition.
