Mission
Our objective is promoting technical sciences, gathering and encouraging co-operation of the scientists of different technical, biotechnical and other professions in order to support efficient scientific and economic development of Croatia without gaining any profit. (Article 1 of the HATZ Statute).
Our missions are
– To be a leading, creative and innovative multidisciplinary community of scientists in the field of engineering;
– To be efficient experts and contribute to the development of technical sciences and the transfer of technological knowledge important for the progress of the Croatian economy and the benefit of all people;
– To advocate safe and appropriate use of technology, to advocate environmental protection and the protection of people against its inappropriate use
– To promote professionalism and responsible behaviour with regard to highest ethical norms.

Highlights 2024-2025
Major Reports or Publications:
- The HATZ Annual 2023 and HATZ Annual 2024 were published, covering topics related to engineering in environmental protection and circular economy (2023) and energy transition with an overview of trends relevant to transport and energy in Croatia (2024).
- The journal Engineering Power continues to be published regularly, featuring articles in technical and biotechnical sciences (one issue in 2024 and six issues in 2025, www.ep.hatz.hr).
Important Events Organized or Participated In:
- Organization of Conferences (2024 & 2025): HATZ organized the Mini Conference “Croatian Academy of Engineering – A Cohesive Factor of Technical and Biotechnical Sciences and Croatian Economy”;
- Co-organization of Events (2024 & 2025): HATZ co-organized or contributed through its Governing Board and departments to the celebration of Engineers’ Day; the Mini Conference “People and Processes” through the Department of Chemical Engineering; the international conference “Printing & Design Conference” through the Department of Graphic Engineering; and the Conference “11th International Congress of Food Technologists, Biotechnologists, and Nutritionists” through the Department of Bioprocess Engineering.
- Patronage and Support (2024 & 2025): HATZ provided patronage or co-sponsorship for events such as nZEB 2024, SST 2024, 10th International Conference Water for all, the 17th Baška GNSS Conference, SCACR 2025, the TRANSCODE 2025 Conference, as well as various workshops, symposiums, and round tables.
- International Projects (2024 & 2025): HATZ participated in the EBSI-NE project (deployment of EBSI production nodes at the European level, funded by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HADEA) through the DIGITAL Simple Grants programme; the implementation involves 24 organisations from 14 European countries, including government agencies, public institutions, and academic organisations) and MULTI-STEM project (multidisciplinary STEM education and research initiatives co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and the State Budget of the Republic of Croatia within the programme “Efficient Human Resources 2021–2027”; scientific institutions, schools, and partner institutions are involved in the implementation of the project).

- Planned webinars, panels, and discussions in the field of technical and biotechnical sciences;
- Strengthening the Academy’s role in Croatia and Europe through participation in international projects;
- Continue strengthening of collaboration between the Academy and the industry;
- Continued publication of journals and reports to disseminate research and knowledge.
