– To stimulate the acquisition of the top-level technical knowledge that provides the basis for technological progress and a balanced, sustainable development;
– To promote the role and influence of technical experts in society in general and when dealing with issues relating to the economy and development;
– To assess and give opinions on the conditions and development of technical sciences and disciplines, research and education;
– To discuss basic issues relating to innovations and the organisation of the economy with regard to technological development;

– To propose measures for enhancing innovations, increasing the quality of research-and-development activities and fostering the transfer of research achievements and innovations to the economy;

STRATEGIC CONSULTATION ON INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT
Best practices and ideas on innovation and technology management from Germany were presented, along with the challenges Slovenia faces in investing in research and development. After the introductory lectures and an in-depth discussion, participants unanimously agreed on measures Slovenia should take to advance in the field of innovation and technology management.
FRONTIERS OF ENGINEERING
In cooperation with the National Academy of Engineering (USA) and Euro-CASE, IAS co-organized the Frontiers of Engineering Symposium from 15-18 October 2023 in New Jersey, USA.
Topics included The Quantum Era Challenge, Computational Era in Life Sciences and Chemistry, Green Hydrogen, and Future Directions in Additive Manufacturing.
COMMEMORATIVE EVENT ON THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF SLOVENIAN FRIDERIK PREGL’S NOBEL PRIZE
Friderik Pregl received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1923 for developing an original method of microanalysis of organic compounds. In 1925, he donated a replica of the original microanalysis device to the University of Ljubljana, which was also displayed during the event.
