Highlights 2023

GREEN FUTURE FELLOWSHIPS

RAEng has received a £150 million endowment from government to launch the Green Future Fellowships programme in 2024. The Green Future Fellowships will provide critical funding to leading researchers and innovators to develop practical, breakthrough technologies and climate change solutions to achieve net zero.

QEPRIZE FOR ENGINEERING 2023

The 2023 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering (QEPrize) was awarded to Professor Martin Green, Professor Andrew Blakers, Dr Aihua Wang and Dr Jianhua Zhao for their research work and development of Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell (PERC) solar photovoltaic technology that has underpinned the recent growth of high performance, low-cost solar electricity, to harness the power of the sun.

GLOBAL GRAND CHALLENGES SUMMIT 2023

The summit was held virtually on 18-20th September 2023, hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). The programme included sessions on Sustainable Infrastructure, Carbon Neutrality and Digital Economy. GGCS 2023 concluded a of a statement signed by presidents of the three academies, highlighting the summit’s success and their commitment to collaboration.
