21 Avr ADVANCED MATERIALS: SAM will deliver its advice to the European Commission this Tuesday
The Scientific Advice Mechanism will formally hand over its scientific advice on advanced materials to Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation.
This advice comes at a pivotal moment, as the European Commission prepares the Advanced Materials Act. Advanced materials are designed to deliver superior performance for specific functionalities, and are essential for Europe’s autonomy, competitiveness, and resilience. From semiconductors and quantum materials to biomaterials and advanced composites, they promise to transform technologies, industries, and user experiences across application areas such as energy, health, electronics, construction, and mobility.
We will send you a separate email with the main recommendations for policymakers during the live TV programme on the European Broadcasting Service. The Evidence Review Report produced by the SAPEA consortium and the Scientific Opinion from the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors will be published at the same time, and we will also send the links to both documents.
The live discussion will take place this Tuesday at 14:30 CET.
A quick note from SAM: we apologise for the last-minute change, as this event was originally scheduled for Wednesday.
