The first civil works for flood protection of Bucharest have started in early 1776, the actual river Dambovita training works have begun in 1880, when the river bed was deepened and an oak wood apron was laid on the river bottom. The river banks were also consolidated and a 20 m wide key was provided on both banks.

Minimizing the cost of tree-like pipe networks at constant dissipated power follows two general laws: the “cost per dissipated watt” ratio is the same for all pipes; in each node, defining along the pipes vectors equal to a certain power of the flow, they are in equilibrium.
