This paper analyses the opportunity of accomplishing a navigable link between Bucharest and Danube – Trans-European Transport Corridor VII. There are summarized the studies / projects developed for this navigable link from the late nineteenth century, as well as the works performed in 1986-1990, including the dysfunctions caused by their suspension / abandonment.

Bucharest has developed without a systematic plan as results from general plan since 1870. Emergence of major streets by aligning and grouping of buildings was made after 1900. This presents a particular problem at present in all cases it is necessary to make some connections and development to increase traffic capacity due to high volume of decommissioning required.

Urban goods transport plays an essential part in good operation of the cities, being in the same time source of negative consequences (congestion, pollution, consumption of non-regenerative energy). This paper presents the characteristic features of logistics scheme with urban distribution centers, considered one of the solutions of energy consumption decrease and urban goods transport efficiency enhacement.

Considering that transport modes are suited for certain market areas, it is proposed to shift from the existing concepts of inter-, multi- and co-modality to the generalizing concepts, theories and models in order to bring transport modes into an equivalent logistics space where the mobility systems are comparable and capable of cooperation at various levels: companies, logistic chains, urban corridors, urban intermodal platforms etc.

The integrated education in view of sustainable development requests the study of the following themes: population (structure and spatial distribution), manner of living, organizational structures and their administration, spatial structures, technical structures and ecological environment. In synthetic approach, the level of sustainable development of the territory subordinated of the mentioned themes has to be assessed by sustainable development indicators - EUROSTAT - existing in Romania.

Mobility is one of our basic needs as human beings. It provides us with independence, allows us to express our individuality and enables us to enjoy a full social life and participate actively in society. We need mobility to do our shopping, for example, and it is therefore essential for trade and supplying people with the goods they buy. Goods transport, production and trade are also facilitated by logistics. Efficient logistics networks are key to securing economic growth and enabling Germany's export trade to do business on the international market. The German logistics industry is worth 222 billion euros and employs 2.8 million people, making it the country's third largest industry. Logistics is also a high-tech business with enormous market potential both nationally and internationally.
